Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Under the direct supervision of Project Manager for Livelihood and Return & Reintegration, in close co-ordination and consultation with Livelihood colleagues as well as other Somalia units in Nairobi the incumbent will develop projects and mobilize resources.
- All these activities will serve to support the effective field implementation of the Project. In particular, he/she will perform the following duties.
- Assist in drafting concept notes and proposals for potential donors’ and funding opportunities.
- Assist in providing technical assistance to the Livelihood Officer in formulating project 2 development strategy by analysing IOM’s comparative advantage in Livelihood in terms of experience, expertize, capacity and funding opportunities.
- Assist in identifying potential and realistic funding opportunities by collecting donor information, liaising with potential donors, and attending coordination meetings.
- Edit reports and documents in English as requested
- Assist in the communications; to create materials for publicity for Livelihood so as to appeal to donors for resource mobilization
- Attend cluster meetings, workshops that are relevant to the Unit and provide feedback to the Programme Manager
- Conduct field travel to monitor progress and completion of the projects.
- Perform any other related task as may be assigned by the Project Manager.
Education and Experience
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration, social sciences or related fields;
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of humanitarian work;
- Experience working in project; working through local NGO or International Organization.
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office package (Word, Excel, Power Point), internet and Email;
- Knowledge of Somalia and prior work in the Horn of Africa region will be considered as an advantage.
- Must hold a valid passport permitting travel to countries within the East African and Horn Region.
