Applications are sought for internship positions within the Administrative Law Section in the Office of Human Resources Management. The Administrative Law Section is seeking highly motivated graduate students who wish to gain professional experience in administrative law within an international organization in order to supplement their studies. This internship programme offers a practical educational experience and provides interns the opportunity to work in a multicultural, intergovernmental organization. The Administrative Law Section is located in the Human Resources Policy Service, Office of Human Resources Management in the Department of Management. The Section is responsible for the preparation of advice on internal disciplinary matters and representation of the Organization in appeals before the United Nations Dispute Tribunal.
Applicants must:
(a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
(b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
(c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) or (b) above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation.
Be computer literate in standard software applications; have demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in oral and written English is required, and knowledge of French is desirable.
