Our client, Mombasa Water Supply & Sanitation Company Limited (MOWASCO) is the sole provider of water and sewerage services in Mombasa Municipality. The company was incorporated in December 2003 under the companies Act Chapter 486 of the Laws of Kenya as a consequence of the Water Sector Reforms in the country.The core mandate for MOWASCO under the Water Act 2002 is to protect, harness and develop potential of water resources to ensure availability of quality water to the residents of Mombasa County and to maintain the assets leased to the Company by Coast Water Services Board (CWSB). To achieve its vision “To be a reputable provider of world class customer focused water and sewerage services” and to assist the Company in implementing the water sector reforms in Mombasa County, MOWASCO is seeking to recruit a strategic and futuristic leaders who is performance driven and passionate about water reforms to fill the position of Managing Director for a contract period of three years, based in Mombasa.
Roles & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing the overall leadership of the company, developing, executing and achieving the overall business strategy, objectives, and sustaining a its revenue growth, and development of its human resources as well as ensuring compliance to the relevant legislation, risk management and implementing Board policies and resolutions.The position ensures that the Company meets its strategic objectives in a changing environment to achieve overall goals of the Company.
Responsibilities:
•Provide leadership in the development and implementation of the Company’s strategic plans to enhance profitability and shareholder value.
•Ensure the business promotion is carried out as per developed and formulated plans so as to attain planned rate of return of assets.
•Ensure effective mobilization and utilization of resources.
•Advise the board on the Company’s performance.
•Cultivate and encourage a productivity culture of results in the Company.
•Establish, direct and manage the Company’s managerial, financial and operational systems, procedures and controls to ensure that they are professional, workable and sustainable.
•Provide strategic direction on new investments, business opportunities and change initiatives.
•Nurture the organization’s human resource and ensure that appropriate management structures and policies are developed and implemented.
•Entrench and sustain a customer focused approach in areas of the business to maintain high service delivery standards.
•Provide relationship management and networking with local and global business partners and stakeholders.
•Promote sound corporate governance and ethical standards.
•Provide proactive public relations and enhance the Company’s corporate image.
•Should have ability to develop and translate missions and visions into strategic plans and results.
Requirements
•Postgraduate degree in Business administration, Finance, economics, Water management.•Bachelor’s degree in either any of the following: Civil, Water Engineering, Water Technology, Finance, Business, Economics, Management, Social Sciences , Law or relevant studies from a recognized university.
•8 years traceable experience in management, 5 years of which must be at senior management level.
•Membership to a professional body in the relevant professional field is desirable.
