International Business and Technical Consultants Incorporated (IBTCI) is recruiting a Senior Researcher/ Statistician for evaluations for USAID/East Africa /Somalia Office. As the holder of the Somalia Program Support Services (SPSS) contract, IBTCI will be conducting evaluations on transition initiatives and democracy and governance programs in Somalia.
This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya with frequent travel to Somalia, and is full-time, beginning in October 2015 to approximately January 31, 2015. Some of the work may be conducted remotely.
The assignment includes the following tasks:
- Review relevant project documents
- Help organize training sessions for interviewers regarding collection of data
- Help conduct and document pre-tests
- Help develop survey related documentation including: instrument, instructions and training materials in English and Somali
- Help provide oversight of data collection,
- Follow international quality control standards and quality assurance procedures
- Ensure adherence to standard USAID requirements (disaggregation by sex, region, etc.)
- Recommend use of appropriate data collection tools
- Help develop users’ guide for the data, including a description of all variables collected and constructed.
- Help produce a final report that covers all results and includes summary tables of survey data.
The Expert should meet minimum qualification requirements:
- Experience with community-based programming in insecure / fragile environments.
- Understanding of Somali gender issues
- Expert knowledge of the past and current status of governance in Somalia
- Knowledge of / experience with programming focused on Countering Violent Extremism
- Fluency in the Somali language
- Strong knowledge transfer skills;
- Professional knowledge of MS Office applications;
