AWF is seeking a Corporate Relations Officer (CR Officer) to cultivate and manage collaborations with the private sector and advance AWF's mission to conserve Africa’s wildlife and wild lands. The CR Officer will work with the Director, Foundation & Corporate Relations and the VP for Philanthropy & Marketing.
Key responsibilities:
Corporate Engagement
- Actively engage with existing and potential business supporters to build a portfolio of strong corporate support for AWF's mission. This includes using a range of communications channels and approaches for cultivating new business supporters such as targeted mailings, e-mail inquiries, phone calls, and in-person discussions (e.g., meetings, special events).
- For current supporters, respond to information requests, encourage and coordinate joint consumer and media outreach with the business/brand partner, and provide regular updates on AWF conservation activities.
- Develop agreements with business supporters and monitor the same to ensure adherence by the partner and AWF.
Prospect Research
- Identify potential corporate partners through print and online publications, database services, trade shows, and other information/networking resources.
Messaging and Marketing Materials Development
- Develop content that details opportunities for businesses to support AWF through cause-related marketing promotions, product licensing arrangements, and sponsorship programs. This content will include online messaging, fact sheets, introductory mailings, concept notes, and customized proposals.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Work with the Marketing department to coordinate promotion elements encompassed in agreements with corporate supporters.
- Ensure that all agreements and associated revenue projections are shared with the Finance & Administration team for accounting and auditing purposes.
- Interact with Program and Africa staff as needed to obtain information on AWF conservation programs for the purposes of developing partnership concepts and preparing reports to current supporters.
The successful candidate will:
- Have a at least an undergraduate degree
- Be willing to travel for donor meetings, prospecting events
- Be a creative thinker with the ability to develop and convey program concepts in a compelling manner
- Have a positive, professional attitude that lends itself to working in a team setting
- Possess superior written and verbal communications skills
- Have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines
- Preferably have experience in relevant fields such as fundraising, marketing, or corporate giving
