Position Summary
We are looking for outstanding and experienced Family Planning Policy Specialist to work on an upcoming family planning programme. This is a full-time position based in Kenya.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist new county governments to devise annual operational plans and guidelines that include strategies to reach youth and rural populations with reproductive health and family planning services.
- Build technical and institutional capacity of local government counterparts for policy, strategic planning, budgeting, and monitoring.
- Facilitate collaboration between the national and county health officials on all aspects of family planning program design, financing, and implementation.
- Provide technical and strategic advice pertaining to relevant content areas.
- Contribute to the preparation of project technical deliverables, presentations, work plans, and budgets.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree/s in public health, health economics, or related discipline.
- Strong technical grasp of family planning and reproductive health, including long-acting and permanent methods.
- Strong technical grasp of one or more of the following: policy formulation, strategic planning, health systems strengthening, health finance, resource allocation, policy dialogue and advocacy, social development, gender and other social determinants of poor health, related sectors that affect health, and strategies to reach youth and other underserved populations.
- Deep understanding of the health system, health market dynamics, and health and development strategies in Kenya, including the plans for and potential impact of devolution in the health sector.
- Seven or more years of experience supporting DFID, European Union, USAID, World Bank, or other donor-funded or government health programmes.
- Demonstrated experience working with and facilitating partnerships among government, private sector, and nongovernmental health sector partners, at national and decentralised levels.
- Strong personal qualities, including integrity, commitment to excellence, equality, openness, inclusiveness, and collegiality.
- Excellent written and spoken English required, local languages are a distinct advantage.
