RTI is currently seeking qualified and experienced project coordinators for an anticipated U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) funded governance program in Kenya focused on devolving fiscal and political power and functions from the central government to the county governments. Objectives include establishing and strengthening the capacity of devolved government structures, county assemblies and working with citizens and civil society to hold devolved structures and elected officials accountable. This position is contingent upon funding and award.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as the project’s resident representative in assigned counties and as a regional liaison to the project headquarters office in Nairobi.
- Coordinate and support the preparation, implementation, and follow-up of project activities in assigned counties and sub counties, as detailed in the work plan.
- Help to ensure quality and oversee the work of grantees (in coordination with the Grants Manager), subcontractors and consultants working in assigned counties.
- Provide reports, other written materials, and data for monitoring and evaluation as required by the Nairobi office.
- Coordinate with partner LGs, CSOs, and other NSAs.
- Help to foster integration and coordination among component activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A master’s degree in a related field and a minimum of three years of professional experience, or Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6 years of experience.
- Knowledge of and experience with local governments, CSOs, and/or other NSAs in Kenya
- Willingness and ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Strong organization and oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel frequently to partner local governments (including districts, sub counties and parishes) as needed.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of other local languages is preferred.
