Field Manager

The Company:
An innovative social business, Samasource connects women and youth living in poverty to dignified work via the Internet. Using a proprietary technology platform, we break down large-scale on line projects into small tasks for workers in impoverished areas around the world to complete. These workers are trained in basic computer skills and paid a living wage, often allowing them to support their entire households. Currently, Samasource provides work to people in Uganda, Kenya, Haiti, India, and Ghana.
Samasource was founded in 2008 and is supported by major corporate and philanthropic funders including The MasterCard Foundation, Google, eBay, Cisco, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the State Department. Samasource is headquartered in San Francisco's Mission District, and has 30+ employees.
The Job:
We are looking for a Field Manager to support Samasource by working directly with our Delivery Centers on the ground in East Africa, as well as working remotely with our Delivery Centers in India, Ghana and Haiti. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, the Field Manager will provide critical interface between Samasource Field management Professional Services management teams and Delivery Centers and act as an in-region representatives of our organization and mission. This position offers a rare opportunity to develop and integrate our organization's mission and learn about scaling a successful social business model, managing partner relationships, and developing a startup social enterprise first-hand.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as main point-of-contact for Delivery Center partners based in Nairobi, Uganda, India, Ghana and Haiti
• Conduct on-site and remote training for Delivery Center staff on BPO operational processes
• Provide hands-on management consulting to help our Delivery Centers scale
• Provide operational and logistical support to Samasource Professional Services team and management from field
• Working closely with the San Francisco-based Impact team, help facilitate assessment of social impact at all Delivery Centers
• Be at the forefront in collecting Field materials showcasing Samasource's social impact, including capturing stories of how our workers have benefited from working for Samasource
• Showcase Samasource Delivery Centers and the Samasource mission to our donors, media, colleagues, members of the board and other stakeholders when they visit the Field office.
• Document Delivery Center operational process around recruitment, training, operations management, performance management, promotions and offboarding.
• Build a Recruitment Partners management program
• As required, represent Samasource at conferences, seminars and workshops
• Work closely with the MD of East Africa and head of Professional Services to continuously improve general framework for Samasource's global field management program
Requirements:
• BA/BS
• 1 year commitment to the role
• 4 years work experience requiring exceptional collaborative and organizational skills
• BPO, or startup experience preferred
• Proven experience training small and large groups on software, online/ technical tools and processes
• Experience managing projects end-to-end
• Demonstrated ability adapt to new technologies, software and technical tools
• Must be comfortable working independently in the field and provide leadership to the Delivery Center owners and workers to improve their results and processes
• Ease in working in an unstructured, fast-paced environment with reliable execution, timelines and strong communication skills
• Proven ability to efficiently problem-solve, research issues and conduct preliminary analysis to help inform management decisions
• Commitment to Samasource's mission and enhancing our work with Delivery Centers
• Experience working with US-based companies required
• Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, etc.), familiarity with social media and online tools preferred
• Fluency in English and Kiswahili
• Kenyan Nationals strongly preferred
