JOB PURPOSE
This position exists for the institutional strengthening of CBM’s Partner capacity, systems and processes in child safeguarding to ensure the safety and security of children under their care; through risk, strengths, needs assessment and consequent development of standards to keep children safe and promote their welfare within the institution.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Lead teams in the development & delivery of training on institutional child safeguarding based on internationally recognized child safeguarding standards and CBM’s Child Safeguarding Policy.
· Oversee the development and monitor the implementation of the relevant policies, documentation and procedures to ensure they are adhered to, remain current and fit for purpose.
· Undertake field visits to CBM supported projects and Partners to give support to activities being implemented in line with their safeguarding action plans and the project/programme plans; analyze and evaluate data and/or make recommendations for improvement where necessary, to align and meet programme/project objectives.
· In liaison with other agencies, to provide technical expertise on the inclusion, harmonization and championing the needs of children with disabilities.
· Carryout joint planning, training and monitoring to ensure there are quality assurance mechanisms in place in all direct CBM partner organizations for the safeguarding of children.
· Promote and document good practice by encouraging and championing child sensitive policies and procedures
· Establish a monitoring system that facilitates the monitoring of achievement of outputs and outcomes set out for CBM.
· Document processes, drafts narrative learning and financial reports in line with donor requirements of CBM.
Required qualifications and experience:
· University degree in the social sciences or in child development.
· Minimum two years relevant professional work experience in project management in the development sector preferably implementing child protection or safeguarding programs.
· Good understanding of international, regional and national child protection frameworks and international safeguarding standards.
· Fluency in written and spoken English.
· Excellent management and coordination skills
· Excellent documentation and reporting skills
· Willingness to travel extensively within the East African region.
