Wanted
Exceptional analytical thinkers to join our New Country Expansion team.
Job Location
Nairobi, Kenya (with 3-4 three week trips to field sites in other African countries with each year).
Duration
Minimum two year's commitment, full-time job.
Organization Description
Most of the world's poor are farmers, representing the largest and most uniform group of poor people in the world. One Acre Fund is a start–up non-profit in Kenya, Rwanda, and Burundi that is innovating a new way of helping farm families to achieve their full potential. Instead of giving handouts, One Acre invests in farmers to generate a permanent gain in farm income. We provide farmers with a "market bundle" that includes education, finance, seed and fertilizer, and market access. Our program is proven impactful – every year, we weigh thousands of harvests and measure more than 100% average gain in farm income per acre. We have laser–like focus on generating better lives for the people that we serve.
Job Description
As One Acre Fund expands, a key part of our long-term goal to reach at least 1.1M farm families this decade is to launch One Acre Fund in one new country per year. It is also important that we understand the landscape of potential countries as soon as possible – so that we know how we may need to change our program model to fit new areas.
We are seeking exceptional analytical thinkers to join our New Country Expansion team. This team is responsible for researching new markets, establishing early stage pilots, and scaling successful pilot programs. New Country Expansion Analysts will have the opportunity to lead projects and research that will directly impact One Acre Fund’s growth trajectory.
Specific projects fall into three areas:
- New market intelligence: Collect and analyze data on new markets in order to determine the viability for One Acre Fund’s model in various new markets and countries. This area can also involve “dig deeper” research, where the analyst will conduct a detailed analysis on a specific component of new market, such as a government input subsidy program.
- Early stage scouting: nalysts will have the opportunity to conduct 3-4 scouting trips per year to new countries. These trips, which generally take about 3 weeks, will involve a combination of meetings with government officials in the capital city and interviews with farmers in rural areas.
- Pilot acceleration support: analysts will help accelerate the growth of pilot programs by providing research and analytical support to various pilots.
All project work will involve a high degree of ownership and a fast-paced work environment.
Qualifications
We are seeking exceptional professionals with 1 to 3 years of work experience conducting analysis and research, managing client relationships, and developing organizational strategy. Experience in entrepreneurial or unstructured environments is a plus.

This is a competitive posting for a career–track role with minimum initial commitment of two years. Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply:
