AAH-I is a regional African-led non-governmental organisation based in Nairobi, Kenya, that supports livelihood-challenged communities in East and Southern Africa to sustainably improve their well-being and standard of living. With Country Programs in South Sudan, Uganda, Zambia, Somalia, and Kenya, AAH-I has over 20 years’ experience working with communities in conflict and post-conflict situations, including refugees, internally displaced people and host communities.
The Program Director (PD) is responsible for developing and maintaining AAH-I’s capacity in development programming. The PD is expected to contribute actively to the growth and development of the organization and to the delivery of AAH-I’s Mission and Vision. He/she will ensure that:
· All AAH-I programs/projects are of appropriate technical soundness in terms of design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation;
· Adequate planning, management and timely implementation of the technical aspects of all relevant AAH-I activities;
· Organizational strategy is broken down to fit country specific programing needs with clear work plans and indicators;
· AAH-I has well researched and ready-to-use technical inputs that address the changing trends in beneficiary needs and appropriate interventions;
· Support development, implementation and regular updates on programing models for AAH-I in line with the AAH-I strategy;
· Timely M&E and donor reports with corrective measures taken where necessary;
· Support to resource mobilization through proposal review to ensure appropriate models and M&E tools for program/project implementation to give AAH-I comparative advantage;
· AAH-I technical work continuously addresses emerging cross cutting national, regional and Pan African challenges e.g. climate change;
· AAH-I technical work yields the expected results / impacts.
QUALIFICATION
· A Master’s degree in health, social science or related studies or equivalent;
· At least 10 years’ experience in program development and management;
· Proven ability in leadership, team management and strategic thinking.
· Demonstrated ability to envision programing trends and set relevant strategies;
· Demonstrated ability to analyse community needs and develop effective technical specifications for intervention projects;
· A track record of success in resource mobilisation;
· Strong analytical (both political and organizational) skills with good attention to detail;
· Ability to provide coaching, mentoring and leadership to team members; Commitment to articulating and implementing AAH-I’s values
