Vacancy: AGRF Program ManagerThe African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) focuses on bringing together African leaders, policy makers, development specialists, scientists, and representatives of agribusinesses and farmers’ organizations to discuss feeding Africa through the potential wealth of its own agricultural land.
The discussions are mainly centered on promoting investments, public – private opportunities and policy support for driving the vision contained in the African Declaration on Agriculture and Food Security.
AGRF is held yearly and the 2015 forum will be attended by up to 200 – 300 high level delegates from over thirty countries in the world.
The AGRF secretariat located at the Alliance for the Green Revolution in Africa invites proposals from suitably qualified individuals.
Role Summary:
Under the guidance of the Director of Communications, the AGRF Manager will play a key role in establishing AGRF as a leading forum in the African agriculture development space by aggregating, packaging, and tailoring information gathered through the AGRF Forum and activities and disseminating it to stakeholders for the purposes of convening actors for partnership, scaling models, and mobilizing resources.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Be accountable for delivering the AGRF strategic objectives, activities and AGRF annual budget.
Work with the Partners Technical Group to identify interests and information needs of AGRF’s target stakeholder groups for the purposes of scaling demonstrated agricultural models across the value chain.
Identify themes and resource-persons to resource the virtual dialogues and meet the knowledge requirements of target stakeholders.
Coordinate a range of national convenings, virtual dialogues and events to outline key advocacy messages and influence key policymakers.
Coordinate collection of information / evidence of demonstrated models used across agricultural value chains by AGRF partners to the website and other communication platforms as required.
Oversee design, creation, and maintenance of Knowledge Management system.
Act as Secretary to the Partners Technical Group by convening and ensuring meetings are documented and decisions acted upon.
Support creation of AGRF success stories and documents detailing evidence of successful models, in collaboration with the Partners Technical Group.
Prepare an operational annual budget and control costs associated with it.
Produce an annual accountability report highlighting progress made by key stakeholders who attended the AGRF.
Work with technical experts to develop and disseminate regular publications and papers on topics of interest in the agriculture sector with the aim of attracting potential partners for AGRF and increasing AGRF’s voice in critical discussions on African agriculture
Line manage the AGRF Executive Assistant and any other staff or consultants who are appointed.
Provide strategic advice and support for AGRA’s convenings and ensure that there is alignment with the AGRF vision.
Perform other relevant duties as required by AGRA Director of Communications.Qualifications and Competencies:
Demonstrated experience of managing budgets of US$500,000 or more and staff
Have demonstrated experience in organizing large conferences and for a similar to AGRF
Ability to work effectively and efficiently with multi-disciplinary teams in diverse cultural contexts and drive action for collective success
Results-orientation, professional, accountable, and proactive
Experience in establishing effective partnerships and relationship within the unit and across boundaries in the organization
Ability to understand client needs and customize information to best suit those needs
Openness to new ideas and to different ways of aggregating, storing, packaging, and disseminating information.

MA / MSc degree (or equivalent) in business, information management, media and communications, journalism, project management, social sciences, or related field
At least 8 years of post-qualification experience in managing complex conferences similar to AGRF.
Experience working on teams and managing process that are dependent on multiple actors.
Experience working with a large multinational development agency in a management and coordination role is an advantage.
Proficiency in the use of standard computer software applicationsApplication Procedure
