The University of Maryland Baltimore Global Health Initiatives through its operating arm Maryland Global Initiatives Corporation Kenya implements comprehensive HIV prevention, care and treatment programs to facilitate the Kenya Ministries of Medical Services and Public Health to control the spread of HIV and rapidly scale up HIV services, institute continuous quality improvement methods as well as the M & E infrastructure necessary to support these services.
The TB HIV Technical lead will plan and implement activities that will lead to the strengthening of TB/HIV collaborative activities at PACT supported facilities in collaboration with the Nairobi City County and the Ministry of Health’s the Division of Leprosy, TB and lung diseases (DLTLD) and National AIDS and STI Control Program (NASCOP).
Key Responsibilities
•To oversee the implementation of TB/HIV collaborative activities in supported facilities. •To strengthen TB screening for HIV-infected clients enrolled in CCCs in PACT supported facilities, •To strengthen use of Isoniazid Prophylaxis Therapy (IPT) as per national recommendations in supported facilities. •To strengthen Provider-initiated Testing and Counselling of TB patients in supported facilities. •To strengthening integration of and referral linkages between TB Clinic and CCC at supported facilities •To collaborate with the county and sub-county TB Coordinators in conducting on-going supervision of TB/HIV activities. •To strengthen institutionalization and implementation of TB infection control interventions at supported facilities. •To participate in the National and County TB/HIV technical working group at Ministry of Health’s National AIDS and STI Control Program (NASCOP) and DLTLD.
Minimum Requirements and Personal Specifications
•Appropriate medical degree or equivalent qualification. Post graduate degree or diploma in HIV Management or specialist qualification in an HIV related field will be an added advantage. •4 years progressive experience of treating TB/HIV infected patients. •Experience with TB and ARVs, research methodology and monitoring and evaluation. •Experience of clinical systems in the area of TB. •Experience in dealing with county health authorities. •Experience with USG and Ministry of Health projects and reporting requirements. •Demonstrated project management skills. •Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with staff at all levels. •Demonstrated skill in giving and formulating clinical training. •Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills. •Ability to work in a diverse team •Organized, thorough and accurate approach to work.
