Programme Officer

Al-Khair Foundation are looking to recruit a Programme Officer to join the Kenya Field Office team.
Al-Khair Foundation is a UK registered charity working to deliver humanitarian and development projects worldwide. Founded in 2003, Al-Khair provides emergency aid, medical care, education and livelihood support to vulnerable communities in the UK, Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and is committed to supporting these groups to become sustainable active citizens in their society.
The Kenya field office in Nairobi currently implements a number of WASH and Livelihood projects and are seeking to expand our reach to develop more sustainable activities in alleviating poverty.
Purpose of Post
  • To support the Programme Manager in implementing AKF’s development programmes based on AKF’s strategic priorities.
  • To assist in the efficient delivery of programmes to improve community access to health services, WASH resources and livelihood activities.
  • To carry out effective monitoring and evaluations of AKF’s programmes and ensure regular reporting and communication to the Programmes team.
Reporting to Programme Manager
Essential Job Requirements
Qualification
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
Experience
  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience in international programmes in a developing country.
  • Experience of working within any of these development areas: WASH, Maternal Health or Livelihoods.
  • Experience of preparing needs assessments for programmes and developing concept notes.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of emergency work, development and relief issues.
  • Knowledge of working with institutional funders and submitting funding applications.
Skills
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal as well as a fluency in spoken and written English.
Terms
This is a full time position to begin with immediate start (including a three month probationary period).
Competitive Rates Salary
Office location is Nairobi
