DAI seeks an Agriculture and Nutrition Advisor for an anticipated USAID-funded integrated water, sanitation and hygiene project for Kenya. The project’s aim is to improve lives and health through development and management of sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene services in Kenya through institutionalizing catalytic models of sustainable service delivery for accelerated water and sanitation access in specific target countries and improving complementary hygiene behaviors.
Core Responsibilities:
The Advisor will oversee the agriculture and nutrition component of the project. S/he will advise and support the Chief of Party in providing technical direction to project implementation and ensure the project meets stated goals and reporting requirements. The Advisor will take a technical leadership role in coordination with Government of Kenya and other partners on agriculture and nutrition issues. S/he will work closely with the project’s Water and Sanitation Advisor on irrigation and hygiene related issues. The position will direct technical nutrition service delivery issues and must link science and project implementation.
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 10 years of experience in implementing food and nutrition programs in development contexts (non-emergency). During this period s/he will have been involved with nutrition project design, implementation, and evaluation;
• Demonstrated capacity to liaise and negotiate with key stakeholders in other organizations, such as the Government of Kenya, as well as to support and supervise staff;
• At least a Master’s degree in Food and Nutrition, Agriculture, or a related field; and
• Excellent oral and written English language communication skills.
