Peace for Africa and Economic Development (PAD)
PAD (www.padinst.org/) is a young, dynamic organization working to empower youth as catalysts for social change through economic empowerment and community leadership. We identify and scale groups of vulnerable young women and men with a micro-enterprise and a social impact activity. Business growth provides youth with sustainable livelihoods to reverse incentives for violence, while increased community engagement through the social impact activity spreads the benefit outwards. We believe in a “business plus” approach, recognizing that holistic solutions to peace and development require a combination of economic empowerment, strong leadership, and community dialogue.
