Project Description:
The Technical Advisor – Workforce Development and Livelihoods will work collaboratively with the key stakeholders to design and implement workforce development and demand-driven livelihoods interventions for youth and their households. This position requires comprehensive understanding of and experience in the areas of market systems development, livelihoods, and skills development, with strong capacity building skills. The position will be based in Kenya, most likely in Nairobi.
Job Summary / Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership in workforce development and livelihoods with expertise including (but not limited to): market systems or value chain development, rural economic development, and skills training.
- Provide technical guidance in design, development, planning, implementation, and capacity building for workforce development and livelihoods components of programs.
- Provide technical assistance to partner organizations on workforce development and demand-driven livelihoods concepts and principles.
- Collaborate with other technical specialists and stakeholders beyond the project to ensure coordination of materials and communication message strategies and avoid gaps and overlaps.
- Help develop, maintain, and follow the indicators set in the work plan for workforce development.
- Work with M&E Advisor to monitor and evaluate the progress and impact of these activities.
- Document project results and impacts in various forms, including success stories, lessons learned, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or its International Equivalent - Knowledge/Information Services, Communications, Education, Environment, Health, Behavioral, Life/Social Sciences International Development, Human Development or Related Field.
- 8-11 Years of experience in education, health, behavioral, or social sciences or related field.
- Knowledge and experience in specific technical area.
- Informed of current program developments in division/unit/technical area.
- Years of work experience that demonstrates sensitivity to and understanding of technical issues.
- Ability to manage projects, set realistic priorities, and plan for the successful implementation of activities.
- Experience in specialized technical/medical field of study.
