Senior Child Protection Project Manager
STARTING DATE: April 2015
DUTY STATION: Nairobi, (40%) and Baidoa (60%)
DURATION: 6 months/1 year
ROLE, TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Child Protection Project Manager will be responsible of the supervision of the Child Protection component of Protection programs and the coordination of the staff involved in the programs. The Senior Child Protection Project Manager is responsible to:
· Directly manage INTERSOS child protection projects, including human resources, finances and providing technical oversight of project activities;
· Maintaining and developing good relations with donor organizations and ensuring adherence to grant management requirements, including timely and accurate reporting and project revision;
· Supervise and provide technical input to ensure the quality of Child Protection team, particularly the Identification, Documentation, Tracing and Reunification (IDTR) team (including review of case management processes and plans, psychosocial support, CPIMS, referral systems and community engagement for protection of children);
· Support the child protection team to implement an effective community-based approach that protects children, including those living in alternative care settings and promotes children’s decision-making;
· Reviewing the current M&E system, and ensuring strong and regular process and performance internal and external monitoring and evaluation, as well as associated project adjustments;
· Design and facilitate child protection research and integrated assessments to inform project activities and emergency response;
· Design and implement training and regular mentoring to build the capacity of INTERSOS staff and partners on child protection;
· Ensure child protection principles and activities according to Child Protection Minimum Standards are practically mainstreamed throughout INTERSOS programs and with other sectors/agencies in target areas;
· Actively participate in child protection coordination forums and build strategic relationships with child protection working group (CPWGs) members, local authorities and agencies/organizations working in Somalia;
· Lead the documentation of project methodologies, lessons learned, and gather case studies;
· Support the implementation of INTERSOS Protection Department strategy, internal protection working group and project development processes;
· Perform other related duties as required by the Somalia Protection Coordinator or Head of Mission.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- University degree in relevant area (e.g. Child Development, Psychology, Social Work, Education, Human Rights);
- At least 3 years professional experience in child protection is required. Experience in best interest determination, case management, psychosocial support, counseling and child friendly communication techniques are desirable.
- Experience with Identification, Documentation, Tracing and Reunification (IDTR) with particular focus on supporting/monitoring foster family
- Field experience in a humanitarian setting is required and work experience in the Somali context is desirable;
- Proven experience developing training materials and conducting trainings using participatory methods for different target groups is required. Experience in training of trainers is desirable;
- Strong experience in monitoring and evaluation, and data collection and analysis is required,
- English language skills required (fluent), Somali language skills (desirable),
- Excellent analytical, report writing and communication skills is required;
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective working relations with staff, beneficiaries and other stakeholders.
