Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the above Temporary position in the Nutrition Outcome Group of UNICEF Kenya Country Office (KCO).
Purpose of the Post:
Under the supervision of the Chief, Nutrition, review the parallel distribution channels for nutrition products in Kenya and facilitate the “integration” of all nutrition supplies into the established GoK logistics system managed by the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) to be able to achieve a sustainable and enhanced national nutrition supply chain, including a focus on developing local supply chain professional capacities.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
· Participate in the nutrition supply chain steering committee and contribute to the dialogue with Ministry of Health and partners on nutrition supply chain integration.
Contribute to the coordination of partners active in procurement and supply chain management of essential nutrition supplies.
Support development of policies and guidelines related to essential nutrition supplies
· Provide oversight on the implementation of the road map of RUTF supply chain integration
Ensure integration and harmonization of the several RUTF supply chains into one GoK/KEMSA led nutrition supply chain
Provide technical advice to Ministry of Health and KEMSA in the identification/resolution of bottlenecks in procurement and supply chain management of essential nutrition supplies
Provide support to further develop the RUTF supply chain integration road map, focusing on components that have not yet received sufficient attention.
Monitor the progress of the components of the supply chain integration plan as they are piloted and implemented.
· Provide support for strengthening the essential nutrition supply chain activities
Work with UNICEF Supply Division, KCO and Regional Office to strengthen the UNICEF managed aspects of the nutrition supply chain, including the forecasting model, inventory management, warehousing arrangements, and end-user monitoring.
Develop training plan and support training of county level staff
Support the incorporation of nutrition supply chain strengthening activities into the KCO and government Strategic Plan and Operational Plans.
· Coordinate UNICEF supply chain and procurement services projects for essential nutrition supplies
Support drafting and finalizing the required Memorandum of Understanding between UNICEF and MOH
Coordinate the planning and implementation of procurement services projects for nutrition commodities
Communicate and liaise with all stakeholders involved in procurement services projects (MOH, UNICEF Supply Division, World Bank, etc.)
Support the management of UNICEF own nutrition supply chain
Required Qualifications:
Advanced University degree in Business Administration, Management or a related field of discipline. Qualifications and technical experience in the area of Supply Chain Management an added advantage.
Experience:
· At least 5 years’ professional work experience in Supply and Logistics Management
Language:
Fluency in English and knowledge of the local working language of the duty station.
