USAID TIS Program Jobs

  • 1. Seeking: M&E / Information Officer

    USAID Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) program: The Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) program is funded by USAID and responds to the complex crisis that has evolved in Somalia.
    The overall program goal is to mitigate conflict, promote stability and community cohesion, and strengthen citizens’ relationships with government officials.
    TIS implements quick impact activities linked to longer-term stabilization goals.
    The TIS program is currently seeking a skilled, diplomatic, effective, and highly motivated M&E/Information Officer.
    As our M&E/Information Officer you will be responsible for handling the program’s information, communication needs, and programming monitoring in high profile, high pressure environments where quick results’ reporting is expected.
    In addition you will be expected to compile appropriate reports on program status, impact, regular success stories, press releases and ad hoc reports on how the program responds to particular issues.
    You will inform the Nairobi office programming with regard to media, communications and all information activities.
    This position will be based in Mateban(Somalia) with frequent travel to other project areas.
    Qualifications:
  • University degree in Mass Communication, English Language/Literature or its equivalent with a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in international development, sociology media, or communication. OR
  • Diploma and a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in international development, research, sociology, media or communication.
  • Proven work experience in media, multimedia reporting and political journalism. Ability to conduct political analysis is highly required.
  • Proven experience with grant monitoring and reporting methods and systems.
  • Familiarity with focus group discussions and facilitation a highly desired.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with deadline-driven writing assignments in English.
  • English and Somali language fluency required. Strong English writing skills required.
  • Must be a Somali National
    2. Seeking: Information Technology (IT) Manager
    This position will be based in Nairobi with frequent travel to Somalia.
    Qualifications and Skills Sought:
  • University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or appropriate field.
  • Five years’ experience working in Information technology
  • Experience working in a complex and challenging field environment
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Experience in data security.
  • Previous experience working in Somalia highly sought.
  • In addition, must be flexible, willing to perform assigned and additional duties and work irregular hours under unpredictable conditions
  • Demonstrated IT expertise working in Somalia.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to manage a diverse range of professional relationships essential.
  • English language fluency required.

    3. Seeking: Grants Information Technology (IT) Assistant(Kenya)
    This position requires travel to Somalia.
    Qualifications and Skills Sought:
  • Diploma in information Technology or Computer Science.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in similar position.
  • Working knowledge in using Microsoft office required
  • PC and server support experience, especially with Windows Server and Windows Client Operation Systems.
  • Experience of basic knowledge of Lotus Notes Client Administration, and replication within a WAN.
  • Computer repairs, assembly and technical troubleshooting.
  • Good knowledge of computer hardware and software theory.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, Lotus Notes, Windows operating systems.
  • Industry standard certification by Microsoft or Cisco preferred.
  • Experience conducting IT needs assessments, preferably in government or administrative offices.
  • Experience training end users in basic IT functions and Microsoft Office programs
  • Must be flexible, willing to perform assigned and additional duties and work irregular hours under unpredictable conditions.
  • Honesty, confidentiality and integrity required.
  • Cultural Sensitivity.
  • Ability to work with strict deadlines.
  • Competency in performing multiple functional tasks.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • English language fluency required and Somali Language fluency stongly preferred.
    4. Seeking: Project Advisor

    USAID Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) Program: The Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) program is funded by USAID and responds to the complex crisis that has evolved in Somalia.
    The overall program goal is to mitigate conflict; to promote stability and community cohesion, and to strengthen citizens’ relationships with government officials. TIS implements quick impact activities linked to longer-term stabilization goals.
    The TIS program is currently seeking a skilled, diplomatic, effective, and highly motivated Project Advisor.
    As our Project Advisor, you will be the TIS focal point for community-level project design and implementation, including the enforcement of budget and timeline requirements.
    The Project Advisor will work closely with the relevant Senior Project Advisor and Field Coordinator in the designated area of responsibility, as well as in close conjunction with the various partner institutions.
    Qualifications and Skills Sought:
  • University degree preferred, such as in development, project management, social work, conflict management or any other related field.
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in the field of governance and development, or conflict management, especially in international organizations such as NGOs.
  • Minimum of two years specific experience in the field of development with project design, implementation and monitoring.
  • Experience in community participation and consensus-building projects.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of government structures and current development planning in Somalia.
  • Demonstrated capacity to understand and analyze the national, regional, and local political context in Somalia, and especially Bay.
  • A drive for results in a high-volume, quick-paced programme environment; creativity and analytical capability required to respond to evolving programme demands and current events.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office suite.
  • Written and spoken fluency in English and Somali is required.
  • Strong inter-personal skills and an ability to work within and build a team environment; ability to provide both detailed and strategic analysis; excellent communication and negotiation skills; ability to work effectively and harmoniously within a diverse work environment.
    4. IT Assistant
    You will work closely with the IT Manager on all aspects of IT as it relates to grant activities and programming throughout Somalia.
    This position requires travel to Somalia.
