CONSULTANT REQUIRED
Position Title: Climate change Vulnerability Assessment Consultant
Project Goal: Promoting climate resilient livelihoods through enhancing community coping strategies and participation of marginalized groups in policy making in Meru County.

Duration of Consultancy:up to 11 days, between 3rdof August and 15thAugust 2015.
PACJA is currently seeking a community Vulnerability Assessment Expert for a Programme on promoting climate resilient livelihoods through enhancing community coping strategies and participation of marginalized groups in policy making in Meru County.
The successful candidate will:
- Assess the vulnerability and risks faced by the Meru County in the context of climate change
- Identify possible solutions to address these issues which will enhance the resilience of local communities to adapt to climate change.
- Conduct desk study on policy and/or response measures being undertaken by the County Government and other stakeholders, including civil society, Private Sector and Development Partners
- Map out key climate change Actors in the County and the activities they are undertaking in their respective thematic areas
- Produce a report on vulnerability assessment, draw conclusions and provide recommendations to be adopted by the county to build climate change resilience
Outputs, Deliverables / Reporting Requirements:
- A vulnerability assessment report of Meru community to climate change – which should outline risks and threats to the local ecosystem to climate change, as well as entry points where the programme can potentially play a positive role in helping the County Government and communities to adequately build climate change resilience.
Qualifications:
- At least three years’ experience in evaluation work, especially on community climate resilient livelihoods or related studies.
- A Degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
- Proven track-record of delivering similar high-quality consultancies/studies
- Fluent and a good command of English, especially written.
- Understanding of local language and culture of local community will be an added advantage.
