ICAP of Columbia University is working in partnership with the Ministry of Health to strengthen HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment Services in five counties in Kenya.This program is part of a US Government initiative against HIV in Kenya that receives funding from PEPFAR through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Applications are invited for the following position:
1. Position: VMMC Infection Prevention Officer
Location: Selected sites in Nyanza
Overall Job Function: Infection Prevention Officer will be responsible for maintaining high hygiene standards for the VMMC mobile teams, as well as coordinating surgical instruments sterilization for supplies and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage equipment and supplies before and after VMMC services
Ensure a steady supply of sterile MC packs the VMMC team
Ensure operating theatres, consultation rooms, and recovery areas are clean and ready for use during and after the VMMCRequirements:
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, with higher education preferred.
Trained and certified on VMMC
Have at least one years’ experience in VMMC work
Demonstrate awareness of the Infection Prevention and Universal Precautions guidelines and standard operating protocols2. Position: VMMC Surgeon
Location: Selected sites in Nyanza
Overall Job Function: The VMMC surgeon will be responsible for screening, performing and post op management of VMMC.
S/he will serve as lead for a 4-person VMMC mobile team and be held accountable for the team’s performance. S/he will report to the VMMC Program Officer.
Key Responsibilities
Perform screening and medical evaluation of clients in readiness for VMMC;
Provide VMMC to eligible clients as per national guidelines;
Perform post-operative reviews for circumcised clients, including managing any complications and referral as appropriate;
Provide supervision and support to VMMC staff working at ICAP- supported health facilities.Requirements:
Diploma in Clinical Medicine or KRCHN;
Registered by the Clinical Officers Council/Nursing Council of Kenya;
Trained and certified on VMMC;
Have at least 3 years’ experience in VMMC surgery;
Have demonstrated capacity to serve as a team leader.3. Position: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
Location: Kisumu with travel to ICAP sites in Nyanza
Overall Function: The incumbent will work under the overall guidance of the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation to provide technical support in the planning and implementation of monitoring and evaluation (ME) activities within the ICAP HIV prevention, care and treatment program.
The appointee will work under the supervision of the Nyanza regional Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
Support routine data collection, reporting and analysis of HIV program data for ICAP internal consumption and donor reporting requirements.
Provide mentorship support to facility healthcare workers and health records personnel in collation, analysis, interpretation and utilization of GoK M&E data and facilitate reporting of routine GoK M&E data to the MoH DHIS database.
Together with program teams, develop and operationalize a schedule for monthly facility and district level monitoring visits to review HIV service delivery and programs and data with a view to identifying gaps for support and mentorship.
Lead in the active audit of both paper M&E tools and electronic medical records (EMRs) as part of data quality assurance.
Provide technical support to program, regional and national teams in the design new M&E data collection tools, and oversee the implementation of electronic medical records in assigned facilities.
Provide any other M&E support as assigned.Requirements:
Degree in Health Records Information, Epidemiology, Biostatistics or related field
At least 2years experience in implementing monitoring and evaluation systems in PEPFAR HIV programs.
Ability to plan and manage simultaneous competing priorities with little supervision.4. Position: Program Officer, Communications
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Overall Job Function: To serve the Strategies and Partnerships Department, for effective communication of ICAP programs, including designing, report writing, production and distribution of communication materials in Kenya.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, coordinate and maintain an effective social media presence for ICAP in Kenya in Kiswahili and English;
Write and produce high quality communication materials, including website content, and effectively communicate these to key audiences in English and Kiswahili;
Take high quality photographs and videos to promote ICAP work
Edit materials (papers, briefs, power point presentations, etc) in English and Kiswahili and undertake full quality assurance to ensure that they conform to ICAP standards and promote the image and objectives of the organization in Kenya;
Support Departments to develop and foster high quality standards and guidelines for ICAP communications across different media and formats;
Ensure timely and effective dissemination of information from all ICAP departments;
Support management in communication and advocacy ;
Organize events as required, with support from Capacity Building Advisor, including publication, launch events;
Review all Kiswahili translations to ensure fidelity with English and quality as well as compliance with the vision and values of ICAP
Liaise and work with external suppliers and partners including, but not limited to designers, printers and production companies to ensure all print work for ICAP is quality.Requirements
A university degree in communication including Media;
Experience in development and/or communications work with at least three years’ relevant working experience, specifically in communications;
Excellent writing and communication skills in Kiswahili and English;
Strong analytical and organizational skills;
Computer proficiency including web‐based applications, flair for working with visual materials; a powerful creative eye; audio visual presentation design skills are desirable;
Keen understanding of traditional media, social media and uses of new technologies for communication;
Ability to be on top of issues and deliver quality on time.How to Apply
