The Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), established in 1959, is a membership organization representing over 750 leading manufacturing and value-add companies in Kenya.KAM is seeking to competitively fill the following vacant position:-
1. Designation: Executive Officer – Business Competitiveness Services
Reporting to: The Head, KAM Consulting
Work Type: Term Contract – 2 Year with Possibility of Renewal
Location: Nairobi
Reporting Date: Immediately
Job Purpose: To increase the uptake of business information and competitiveness services offered by KAM to enable members increase productivity and expand their global foot print.
Duties and Responsibilities
This will be a cross functional role for KAM Consulting expected to offer strategic leadership and execution to the function and growth with duties as follows:-
Developing a well-defined Business Information Services (BIS) to support KAM membership
Establishing and updating an effective knowledge management portal for business
Introduction and enhancing uptake of additional business services as well as increasing uptake of already existing services eg KAIZEN events, lean manufacturing and other productivity related programs/certifications.
Developing and implementing a market penetration strategy for BIS covering all pillars related to KAM: membership, policy advocacy and communication.
Plan and organize trade missions and expos to markets of interest to KAM members to grow access to markets and identify investment opportunities.
Establish market access and market expansion opportunities locally and internationally for members.
Design relevant communication tools for BIS services to enhance corporate brand and country image locally, regionally and internationally.
Articulate membership issues and offer advocacy support to members in collaboration with other units within KAM.
Identify and engage the relevant government agencies, regulatory authorities, business associations and other stakeholders to support industry development and market growth.
Enhance Kenya’s export competitiveness through initiatives that promote product development, adaptation and value addition.
Research and advise on global, regional and local BIS trends and establishment of market share for Kenyan products in different countries.
Liaise with KAM’s other units to prepare quality information materials, position papers, communication, and media responses on BIS Issues.
Facilitate Business to Business cooperation towards promoting market linkages locally and internationally and strengthen distributorship networks for members.
Analyse competition for Kenyan products locally and internationally to help shape KAM Consulting strategy

A degree in either of the following; Economics, Business Development, Sales, Marketing
Minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience.

Designation: Senior Executive Officer
Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer
Job Purpose: To provide overall direction and oversight to KAM Policy Research and Advocacy Work
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and oversee an effective Policy, Research and Advocacy strategy for KAM;
Oversee research, development and presentation of holistic analyses of impact of national, regional and international policy on the manufacturing sector;
Provide technical advice and support for governance and policy institutions on KAM’s policy advocacy agenda;
Maintain an observatory on national, regional and international developments that impact on industry;
Effectively engage members of KAM to make contributions to advocacy positions of the organization through committees and sectors;
Ensure timely dissemination of KAM policy related information to all stakeholders;
Overall development and management of the Policy Research and Advocacy Unit;
Establish and coordinate constructive and sustainable networks/partnerships with local and international BMOs, research and higher learning institutions, governance institutions and key actors in the manufacturing sector in Kenya to ensure collaborative strategies and effective support networks to deliver on KAM’s policy advocacy agenda;
Provide technical support for the development of structured opportunities to facilitate internal and partner learning for decision-making and influencing practice.
Take lead in the development of resourcing strategies for the Policy Research and Advocacy Unit that respond to KAM’s business development plan as well as oversight budget and expenditure for the Unit;
Develop and operationalize effective reporting mechanisms for the policy research and advocacy unit and ensure timely periodic, monthly and annual progress reports of the programme;
Ensure KAM is represented in forums of interest to its members;
Any other duties as may be assigned by the CEO.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, law or other comparable discipline
Msc or MA. in Economics, Law, international trade and or international business relations
Excellent interpersonal, communications, public speaking, and presentation skills.
Ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external constituencies.

Customer relationship management skills
