IRC health program aims to increase the impact of health programs through health information systems and epidemiological investigation and research, to rapidly detect public health problems, to develop, evaluate and disseminate improved methods to collect and use data in humanitarian settings and to build capacity of IRC staff and partners to improve health information management efforts. The goal of the current project is to strengthen the IRC- Somalia HMIS and to build a comprehensive data set reflecting the activities of the Health program as a basis for monitoring and evaluation.
The Health Information Specialist will be responsible for the following:
- Conduct a Health Information system review -Review and development of the data tools and DHIS data base while incorporating the indicators form various supporting grants and MoH guidelines on data to be collected. The HIS review should be conducted according to Health Metrics Network protocol.
- Provide routine support to the health program while performing the consultancy by providing capacity buildingfor implementing health information systems in the field.
- Conduct a data audit of facility data to detect systemic errors within data collection.
- Assess the feasibility of possible mobile data collection or mHealth projects. Work with field team to develop supportive mobile-based project, develop guidelines, and provide training.
