Jesuit Refugee Service Eastern Africa is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate for the position of Eastern Africa Assistant Programmes Officer. Primary responsible for annual proposal process and reporting in coordination with the country & project directors, the Assistant Programmes Officer is to assist the Regional Programmes Officer in monitoring and assuring programme quality and provide general capacity building through field visits, facilitation of the development of a structure and culture of learning within the organisation.
Responsibilities include:
Funding Management
- Maintain an up to date projects' physical files
- Complete all proposals and seek new funding opportunities as required
- Work closely with the regional finance team and communicate on all donor budgets and donor allocations
Programme Development
- Assist the Regional Programmes Officer in managing the annual proposal process
- Responsible for coordinating and editing quarterly, midyear and annual reports
- Complete donor reports as assigned
- Perform monitoring and evaluation visits as required
- Input into country directors' and other thematic meetings throughout the Region as required
- Responsible for maintaining and updating JRS East Africa programming data in PAS (Pedro Arrupe System) which is an online database.
- Any other duties pertaining to programmes as needed
Cooperation
- Work closely with the regional team to fulfil its function of representation and coordination and provision of leadership
- Attend regular team meetings, planning meetings, collaborating in particular with the human resources, communication, advocacy and finance officers
- Work closely with JRS country and project directors within the region to professionally plan, implement and evaluate JRS projects in line with identified strategic priorities
- Advocacy training of JRS staff
Other
- Represent the organisation, make presentations and write articles when delegated
