CARANA seeks a Senior Investment Expert for an anticipated, multi-year USAID funded trade expansion project in East Africa. The United States Agency for International Development‘s (USAID) Power Africa and Trade Africa (PATA) team and regional Mission for East Africa contemplate the award of a contract for the East Africa Trade and Investment Hub (TIH) project, totaling approximately USD $70 million total over five years. The TIH project aims to spur inclusive economic growth by promoting an enabling environment for trade and investment and increasing East African trade and investment, particularly to and from the United States (U.S.). The TIH project will build upon prior investments to increase regional trade competitiveness and reduce poverty.
Duties: The Senior Investment Specialist shall work closely with the U.S. government interagency partners and the private sector to increase investment and technology transfer between Eastern and sub‐Saharan Africa
and global markets, particularly the U.S.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree, strongly preferred Master’s
degree or equivalent in banking, finance, business
administration, economics, public policy, international
and/or agricultural development, international relations, or
related area or equivalent;
• Minimum ten years of relevant experience, five of which shall
be in developing countries, preferably in Africa;
• Extensive experience working with commercial investment,
development banks, financial services companies in the
international field or in international finance;
• Extensive experience in originating, analyzing and structuring
financial transactions;
• Experience in catalyzing development results through the
mobilization of private sector capital;
• Maintains close relationships with important capital markets
actors, including regulatory bodies, commercial banks,
microfinance institutions, investment funds, pension funds,
insurance companies, and other donors.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with
institutional and private sector partners and stakeholders in
a multi‐country setting;
• Fluent in English writing, speaking and reading
ability.
