Roles & Responsibilities
What are we looking for:We are in the process of strengthening our growing Tax practice in Kenya and we would like to recruit ambitious, highly motivated and dynamic persons at our Human Resource Services team within Tax. The selected candidates will work with multi-disciplinary assignment teams in a number of roles.
Roles & Responsibilities
This role requires you to develop specialised tax expertise in Human Resource Services (HRS) offering, a subset within the Tax line of service, which delivers the following services: International Assignment Services; Payroll; Immigration Services and Reward.
The person will be required to:
•Request and review information required for monthly payroll processing
•Carry out the monthly payroll processing using payroll software (e.g. MemorySoft, Sage) and excel-based tools where necessary
•Organise the distribution of final payroll reports and payslips
•Prepare employer returns required for monthly/annual filing to the Kenya Revenue Authority and other statutory bodies
•Prepare payroll fund reconciliations
•Process payment requests and paying-in slips
•Communicate with various stakeholders regarding the payroll during the course of the month
•Maintain payroll records and files, which should be kept updated at all times
•Assist in the preparation of Kenya Self-Assessment Annual Returns for employees (including expatriate staff and company executives) to ensure that relevant returns are completed and filed before deadlines
•Assist in ad-hoc consulting projects such as PAYE health-check reviews; researching on the tax treatment of benefits and allowances under the Kenya Income Tax rules
•Comply with internal/external PwC risk management requirements and ensure that all client engagements are performed in accordance with PwC risk and quality protocols
•Ensure that confidential client data is handled with utmost care
•Be keen to work as part of a team servicing our existing clients and help win and develop new ones.
•Assist with set-up and management of clients onto the KRA iTax module and be able to trouble shoot queries
Requirements
Skills & Competencies•Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university,
•Meticulous attention to detail
•Analytical and numerate with a good level of computer literacy
•Ability to work under significant pressure
•Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
•Intensely client focused, ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels
•Awareness, understanding and practical experience in the application of Kenya income tax rules, NSSF and NHIF regulations as it applies to employers and their employees
•Experience of using the old KRA ITMS system
•Understanding/practical use of the new iTax system would be ideal but not essential
•Effective team player , works with minimal supervision and output driven
•Results and achievement orientated.
