We are offering an exciting internship opportunity for a graduate to be based at the ISS office in Nairobi. The opportunity offers direct exposure to efforts to promote human security in Africa in addition to the following areas: criminal justice, tackling corruption and good governance. The intern will be able to gain practical skills in conducting and disseminating research findings, interaction with researchers and policy makers, among others.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Assist researchers with background information and research
- Assist in organising internal seminars, workshops and conferences, and prepare relevant reports
- Take minutes of specific meetings as per the researchers’ instructions
- Work on a short research paper
- Contribute to other internal publications
- Any other tasks assigned by the programme head or researchers
Requirements:
- A minimum of undergraduate degree in politics, international relations, law, criminology or related fields
- Relevant course work and previous research experience is highly desirable
- Applicants should be well organized, self-motivated and reliable, with a strong interest in crime, criminal justice, governance and human rights issues
- A high level of written and spoken English is required
- Computer literacy
Stipend: Stipend commensurate with ISS internal salary structure.
