Oxfam in Kenya implements a large and innovative programme that incorporates humanitarian responses as well as longer term development and policy work that delivers impact for some of the country’s most marginalised people. Oxfam Kenya applies a one programme approach which means it has multiple activities that support a holistic approach to humanitarian, development and advocacy for long lasting change in poverty reduction. Oxfam in Kenya works in the arid lands of the north, principally in Turkana, Dadaab and Wajir; in the Nairobi informal settlements and at national level advocacy and coordination in multi stakeholder forums.
In Kenya, Oxfam aims to help millions of people with improved Hygiene and Sanitation, Social Safety Nets (including cash distribution), resilient livelihoods and more citizen led governance. Oxfam is increasingly developing its role as a facilitator or catalyst for change and it puts women at the heart of everything it does. Oxfam Kenya implements some of the organisation’s largest development projects and is increasingly focused on building Kenyan institutions rather than directly implementing itself.
Oxfam in Kenya requires a highly experienced MEAL Coordinator to help successfully implement and demonstrate delivery in its country programme.
The Role
The MEAL Coordinator will report to the National Programme Coordinator and lead in the enhancement of MEAL a across the Country Programme. The coordinator will work closely with program staffs in designing a national MEAL framework, ensuring compliance with Oxfam and donor MEAL requirements and developing MEAL tools on and implementation plans at each location. The post holder will conduct field MEAL exercise and data management and analysis. He/she will train the project and partner teams on MEAL concepts and tools. The post holder is expected to assist the project in strengthening the accountability mechanisms at project level. You will help appraise project activities, progress reports and streamline the partners' work and documentation. You will facilitate capacity building process of the partners on MEAL issues.

To be successful in this role, you will require a minimum of a degree in social sciences from a recognised university, with intensive experience of work in international development and/or humanitarian programmes and good knowledge and demonstrated experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning. You will be required to have excellent communication and multicultural team working skills.
