Chemonics International is a leading international development consulting firm based in Washington, D.C. with more than 25 years of experience implementing development programs in East Africa. Chemonics seeks experienced professionals for an anticipated multi-year USAID-funded electoral support program in Somaliland. This project will aim to increase the capacity of Somaliland's electoral commission, strengthen democratic political parties’ ability to effectively participate in the elections, and increase the involvement of civil society organizations in the elections process. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. Please note that all positions are subject to program award. We are seeking mid- and senior-level candidates in the following fields:
Long and Short Term Specialists
- Political party strengthening
- Elections logistics support
- Election law
- Civil society strengthening
- Capacity building and training
- Communications
- Monitoring and evaluation
- Administration (finance; grants; procurement)
Qualifications
· Degree required in political science, governance, or relevant to the position applied to; advanced degree preferred
· Minimum 5 years’ experience promoting free and fair elections
· Proven track record in successful implementation of technical assignments and proven managerial/supervisory experience
· Prior experience with USAID highly preferred
· Experience working collaboratively with the government of Somalia, international donors, and local organizations
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Fluency in English is required.
