Program description:
This program is collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute and Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation (PIRE COLL 26-Q) whose remit is to conduct HIV research with youth.
It is in this mandate that the following vacancies are to be filled.
1. Position: Assistant Research Officer
Vacancy No. K06/01/15
MR 9
(2 Positions)
Reporting To: Study Principal Investigators and Study Coordinator
Location: Siaya and Kisumu
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in nursing, public Health, Community Health and development,
Project Management, Health Systems Research, Sociology, Psychology or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
Minimum of 2 years experience in public or behavioural health research, preferably HIV research, with a with 1 year experience conducting qualitative research with rural adolescent and adult populations.Desired Qualities
Ability to travel long distances and to work in diverse settings
Courteous, proactive, hardworking and have excellent Interpersonal skills
Knowledge of qualitative data collection and analysis an added advantage
Attention to detail and good work ethics
Training in Research Methods an added advantageSkills and Abilities
Good facilitation and Interviewing skills
Ability to ride a motorbike
Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and communication skills
Proficiency in spoken and written English and Kiswahili and ability to speak, understand and translate Luo.2. Position: Research Officer (Study Coordinator)

Location: Siaya and Kisumu
Essential Qualifications
Masters Degree in a health-related discipline, e.g., nursing, global/public health, health systems research, psychology or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
Those who have completed Masters Programme coursework and are at the thesis stage with proven experience in research coordination can also apply.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in public or behavioral health research coordination, preferably HIV research with 2 years of experience in conducting research with rural adolescent/youth and adult populations
Training in Research Methods an added advantage
Previous experience with qualitative researchDesired Qualities
Ability to travel long distances and to work in diverse settings
Courteous, proactive, hardworking and have excellent Interpersonal and organizational skills
Knowledge of qualitative data collection and analysis
Attention to detail and good work ethicsSkills and Abilities
Good coordination and leadership skills
Proven research presentation and results dissemination at scientific conferences an added advantage
Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and communication skills
