Background
ITC is a joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organisation for trade-related technical cooperation in developing countries. ITC's Market Analysis and Research (MAR) section provides easy-to-use analytical information to support development of trade strategies for governments, trade support institutions and companies in the developing world.
MAR's main channel for providing information is a suite of websites. Among them is Market Access Map (MAcMap, www.macmap.org) containing information on tariffs and other market barriers, and providing market analysis tools, such as tariff reduction simulations. Constant maintenance of the website and continuous research to keep up with the latest developments in the area of trade intelligence have to be performed in order to guarantee the best user experience.
Duties
The International Consultant will work under the direct guidance of the Web Developer the overall supervision of the Project manager and will:
- Design and develop data model
- Design and develop Cubes using SSAS
- Create SQL procedures and monitor, troubleshoot, optimize SSIS packages
- Coordinate with the IT web developer for the maintenance of the site, the creation of new modules and functionalities and the improvement of the user interface
- Propose innovative and creative ideas to improve data visualization
- Automate ETL processes and implement notification mechanism
- Create and maintain documentation for data warehouses processes
- Test the application and report eventual malfunctioning of the application's modules and functionalities
- Fix bugs reported by the business side in a timely manner and carry out the activities delegated by the Web Developer.

Payment schedule
After every 20 days of work.
Qualifications, Competencies and experience required
- University degree in computer science or related field
- 2-7 years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and .Net development
- Experience in SQL, T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, views, indexes
- Query troubleshooting/optimization and ability to handle large size databases (terabytes)
- Experience of ETL process and data modelling concepts i.e. Dimensions and Cubes
- Experience in Microsoft SSIS & SSAS
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Office 2010 and MS Outlook
- Organized, proactive, rigorous, flexible and able to quickly integrate within the team
- Able to work independently and deliver results within agreed deadlines.
Languages
- Written and spoken proficiency in English;
- Good command of French or Spanish would be an asset.
