The Infrastructure & Capital Project Advisory Director (Director) will oversee all work related to proposal preparation, assignments planning, quality assurance, budgeting, and training of consultants, practice development, and business planning in the functional area.
Reporting to the Infrastructure and Capital Projects Partner, the position will serve at the Director for the East Africa region and will be based in our Nairobi office. The Director will be expected to frequently travel throughout the East African region.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Business Development
- Contribute to the growth of the Infrastructure and Capital Projects revenue by effectively selling the advisory services directly to clients.
- Interface with clients' management and personnel and manage client relationships and expectations.
- Attend client meetings with Partners and professionals.
- Developing a comprehensive market driven plan to deploy Infrastructure & Capital Projects services across the East Africa region.
- Serve a variety of clients within multiple industries.
- Enhance the Deloitte Brand and eminence via:
- Quality client interactions (communication, execution of projects and deliverables).
- Participate in appropriate client presentations and Firm-wide conferences and marketing activities.
- Follow through on Client Satisfaction Assessments to ensure completion and identify opportunities for areas of improvements.
- Project Management
- Participate in financial planning activities.
- Provide expertise on cross functional issues related to the development and construction of large and complex capital projects including strategy, planning, project assurance, and project dispute.
- Ensure profitability on all assignments managed by exercising good judgment and management skills (demonstrate good management of WIP, debtors, recoveries)
- Talent Management
- Provide effective guidance, supervision, and mentorship of the Infrastructure and Capital Projects advisory team.
- Assist in hiring, training and developing staff.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge in two or more consulting functional areas of business planning, concept development, feasibility studies, and operational improvements.
- Knowledge of professional management principles, theories, and practices; guidelines or precedents applicable to kinds of problems encountered; trends, current developments, and plans for future developments in financial management; organizational structures and functions; and operating programs, and policies.
- Ability to apply knowledge of structure, functions, and procedures in solving organizational problems and to develop methods for implementing prescribed systems with the capability to predict the effect of changes recommended or instituted.
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Engineering, Economics, Business Administration or any other related discipline, additional qualifications will be of value e.g. MBA.
- 10 to 15 years' experience with industry or consulting or banking firms that incorporate Real Estate, Capital Projects, Infrastructure and Project Finance.
- Experience with Real Estate and Construction sectors preferably in the Pan African region.
- Strong proficiency in basic PC applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with a general understanding of data analysis techniques.
- Ability to develop consensus within a matrix-managed organizational climate of diverse operational activities with loose central authority.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment and to manage ambiguity.
- Strong communicative and relationship-building skills necessary to interface within all levels of the organization.
- Strong negotiator, facilitator and consensus builder with high integrity and energy.
