One Position
Duties and Responsibilities
Public relations officers perform the following tasks:
Monitor public opinion regarding the Assembly on particular issues;
Develop and implement communication strategies for the Assembly and advice the Assembly on communication issues and strategies;
Plan public relations programs, including the preparation of cost budgets;
Present arguments on behalf of the Assembly to government, other institutions, organizations and special interest groups;
Respond to enquiries from the public, media and other institutions;
Arrange interviews with journalists, prepare and distribute news releases and make statements to the media;
Write, edit and arrange production of newsletters, in-house magazines, pamphlets and brochures;
Assist in preparing organizational documents such as annual reports, corporate profiles and submissions;
Write speeches, prepare visual aids and make public presentations;
Oversee production of visual (film or video), audio and electronic material, including website productions;
Organize special events such as open days, visits, exhibitions and functions;
Conduct internal communication courses, workshops and media training;
Plan, develop and manage brand identity;
Procure sponsorship deals fostering community relations through events such as open days and through involvement in community initiatives;
Managing the PR aspect of a potential crisis situation.
Requirement of Appointment
A minimum of a Degree in Public Relations, Social Sciences or equivalent;
Must have served for a minimum of Seven years in an equivalent position;
Must demonstrate strategic planning skills and ability to design and implement short term, medium and long term plans.
Preferential Criteria During Selection
Suitably qualified applicants will enjoy preferential treatment in the order below:
Applicants serving in positions at the County Assembly ;
Applicants serving in the public service in the republic;
Applicants who are residents of Kiambu County;
Applicants from the rest of the Country.

Persons interested in filling the above positions should submit applications in own handwriting accompanied by two-page Curriculum Vitae, Certified copies of relevant Academic and Professional Certificates, National Identity Card or Passport, and other relevant supporting documents.
In addition, applicants for the position of Clerk of County Assembly should submit certificates of clearance from the Ethics & Anti-corruption Commission, Higher Education Loans Board, Criminal Investigations Department and the Kenya Revenue Authority as part of compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
