The purpose of this job is to synthesize data and information into relevant insights that can be succinctly and efficiently communicated to support the Business Unit’s strategic plan development and implementation. Monthly measurement and reporting of the Business Unit’s performance. Participating in the planning process to ensure timely achievement of the deliverables.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Establishes and manages a robust competitive and market intelligence system, and develops reports which are selectively distributed to support across the Group, Business Units and Corporate
- Conducts macro-economic in-depth analysis to generate insights that guide opportunity sizing and prioritization.
- Develops and maintains a repository of relevant information that can be utilized within the Strategy Department and across the Business Unit
- Works closely with the Business Planning Manager in managing the planning process
- Develops and promotes internal controls, standards and processes to ensure accuracy and consistency in data used for decision-making, internal/external reporting and communications.
- Develops and implements the Resource Allocation model during the planning period.
- Participates in operating meetings (e.g., Business Unit & Strategy planning meetings, individual strategy sessions) to gain an understanding of operating environment and business needs.
- Develops and assembles presentations, workbooks or manuals and correspondence as required
- Assists the rest of the team as needed for particular assignments
Financial /Job Scope
- Macro-environment, competitive and market development analysis for key countries in the 30 countries of the BU
- Liaise with stakeholders: Benchmarking and implementing best practices.

Extensive High Level Strategic /Operational Interaction with:
- Strategy and Business Planning Manager

Nature and Purpose of the Interaction:
- Develop analysis and insights to support CEWA strategy plan development and implementation
- Data collection from in-country teams
- Implement best practice in development and management of information repository system,
- In the course of the planning process, performance measurement , project management and resource allocation
- During high level meetings at BU and Group level

Technical Skills:
- Strong synthesis capability (distilling mass of data and information into actionable insights)
- Advanced knowledge of and sophisticated application of advanced principles theories and concepts; contributes to the development of new principles and concepts in Strategy & Business Planning
- Superior business problem solving skills - analysis and synthesis. Multi -functional, at least two areas: in marketing, sales and distribution, finance, change management, supply chain etc.
- Ability to work in a fluid organization setting where the focus is the initiative (work); ability to quickly establish oneself in a new project team; ability to move from one team to another quickly and work in multiple teams at the same time.
- Analytical thinking and effective influencing skills
- Ability to work with large a large data base, applying different statistical methodologies to extract insightful information
- Resourceful in acquiring data especially for macro-environment and market information
- Project management competency
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within given deadlines
- Attention to detail
Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel – economic model development and statistical analysis; Good knowledge of PowerPoint and MS Word; database software (e.g. SQL) and statistical software (e.g. E-View) knowledge is a plus

Required Experience
3-5 years relevant work experience preferably within a multinational ,FMCG, consulting /research company
Educational Requirements
- Minimum: A relevant commerce, quatitative sciences or behavioral sciences degree. Ideally, a combination of these degrees will be an advantage
Cultural Diversity
- Ability to work in a variety of different cultures as the job will span several different countries on the African continent. Ability to deal with several layers inside the organization at the same time
- English as primary language & French/Portuguese advantageous

- Consult with all stakeholders regularly on macro-economic data, competitive and market information
- Build organizational capabilities around analysis, planning & reporting
- Sustain operational excellence relating to analysis, reporting & planning
- Supplying information, presentation and reports for all strategy meetings

Working Conditions
- This is an office based role – The role may entail some travel within BU, Group level
Travel Requirements
- Limited – May entail some travel to Local and international location (upto 15%). Some travel may require overnight stay
