About the Job: The post holder will coordinate Oxfam’s WASH programme in South Sudan, primarily focused on the humanitarian programme in Upper Nile. They will need to design sustainable WASH programmes with links to livelihoods, write proposals for various donors for both short and long term WASH programmes within the complex context of South Sudan and contribute to the recruitment of WASH Emergency Preparedness &Response (EP&R) staff. They will advise on the need for assessments and promote the inclusion of cross cutting issues within programming, including HIV/AIDS, malaria, gender, protection and community participation. They will also take a leading role in interagency WASH coordination forums and the EP&R task force group chaired by OCHA, and take part in WASH Cluster meetings at National level.
About You: We are looking for people with proven experience of coordinating large water and sanitation programmes. You should have substantial experience of working in developing countries in appropriate water supplies, sanitation and hygiene promotion. It is desirable that some of this should have been in emergency relief programmes. You should also have a good understanding of the public health needs of poor rural and urban communities and of appropriate ways of tackling them, and be aware of and sensitive to the particular needs of women in this context. You will need to have good written and spoken English, with the ability to be diplomatic in order to work with people at managerial and, on occasions, senior government levels, whilst also being at ease working with local people. You will also need to have strong team skills, the ability to be flexible in demanding situations, and have a willingness to be based in a remote location that may be difficult to work in.
