Ready-to-use therapeutic food specialist

Chemonics seeks a ready-to-use therapeutic food specialist for an anticipated USAID-funded Food by Prescription for HIV/AIDS care program in Kenya. The program will focus on improving the nutritional status of people living with HIV and of orphans and vulnerable children, with possible expansion to a wider target population, by promoting good nutrition and preventing malnutrition. The program will introduce effective nutritional products, build a robust supply chain, and improve health facility performance. The specialist will be responsible for improving production and distribution of therapeutic food products. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in food science, food technology, public health, or related field required
  • Experience working on large, complex, donor-funded programs
  • Experience providing technical direction for project activities and liaising with high-level USAID, government, and other donor agency officials
  • Ability to transact business effectively in complex social and political environments
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with project partners, host-country governments, subcontractors, and other donor-funded programs 
  • Experience in HIV/AIDS care and support and/or nutrition activities
  • Experience working in Kenya and/or East Africa
  • Experience with HIV/AIDS and/or moderate/severe malnutrition treatment food and nutrition programming, production, and distribution
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills
  • Computer experience, including Microsoft Office applications; experience with other software and devices for enrollment, monitoring and evaluation, statistics, and other supporting software a plus
  • Experience with USAID-funded projects highly desirable
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in English required
