Position Summary:
CNFA is recruiting for a Senior Agricultural Trade Expert to spearhead activities for an upcoming USAID funded project focusing on generating inclusive economic growth by promoting an enabling environment for trade and investment and increasing East African trade and investment, particularly to and from the United States (U.S.). Other duties include:
- Maintaining and developing strong partnerships with cooperatives, partners, collaborators and any other associated stakeholders in the East African Community;
- Raising awareness African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) opportunities;
- Contributing to the implementation of the AGOA export strategies;
- Working with marketing, regional and international trade facilitation, investment promotion and extension agencies;
- Attending trade events to facilitating business and market linkages;
- Promotion of good trade practices;
- Working to support and encourage regional and national level policy dialogues on East African trade policy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strongly preferred Master’s degree or equivalent in international trade, agricultural economics, public policy, business administration, agricultural development or related area or equivalent;
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, 5 of which should be in developing countries, preferably in Africa;
- Strongly preferred extensive experience related to developing an enabling environment for agricultural investment and trade.
- Demonstrated ability policy development and technical assistance in implementation;
- Experience working on USAID-funded programs;
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with institutional and private sector partners and stakeholders in a multi-country setting;
- Excellent writing and communication skills;
- Ability to use the latest ICT technology and computer software programs; and
- Fluency in English.
