Deputy Regional Human Resources Manager (Horn, East and Central Africa)

Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Contract type & level: C1 National, open ended
Salary: competitive base, net salary plus a generous benefit package
Poverty isn’t inevitable. It’s just plain wrong….that’s why at Oxfam we fight poverty at its roots, with simple, smart solutions. We combine emergency response work, long-term development programmes and campaigning for lasting change. The Horn, East, and Central Africa (HECA) Region is the largest region within Oxfam, covering 8 countries, including Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya, Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, and Uganda. The Regional Centre is based in Nairobi. We are mandated to ensure human resource management contributes to and is aligned to the region’s strategic goals.
The Role
Together with the Regional Human Resource Manager, you will lead the implementation of the regional HR strategy, liaise very closely with Country HR Managers and other senior managers to ensure best HR practices across all our programmes and, as a HR Business Partner, contribute to the region being an effective organisational unit. You will have oversight of budgets in the HR teams and support on recruitment, reward harmonization, pay reviews and oversee proper implementation of Oxfam’s health and safety policy. You will work with the Learning and Development Advisor in ensuring appropriate learning and development interventions are in place and at the same time play a key role in capacity building managers and staff on the Oxfam performance management processes.
The Person
With experience of providing HR leadership across more than one country, you’ll ideally have worked in the Horn, East and Central Africa region and you will certainly be sensitive to the complexities of working in a multicultural environment. You will be committed to the beliefs and values of Oxfam. This will be reflected in your approach to working with your team. You will have a full professional qualification in Human Resource Management and/or substantial HR experience including operations and strategic HR, in a senior HR management position with adequate exposure to organizational change, organizational development and diagnosis. In addition, you will be able to travel fairly frequently. You will be a strong influencer and be able to persuade, with the drive to ensure HR perspective is considered at all levels.
How to apply:
If you believe you are the candidate we are looking for, please download the full job description and apply online at www.oxfam.org.uk/jobs using REF INT0125. The closing date is: 15th January 2014. Only short listed candidates will be contacted.
We are committed to ensuring diversity and gender equality within our organization.
Diversity The difference starts with you
