We are seeking candidates for an anticipated USAID-funded Trade and Investment Center Program in East Africa. The program will promote transformational economic growth in East Africa, including through trade and investment, by promoting regional integration and trade; expanding African capacity to effectively access and benefit from global markets; and encouraging U.S. companies to trade with and invest in Africa. We are seeking value chain development specialists who meet the following requirements:
Mid-level Trade Advisor
- Master’s degree or equivalent: international trade, economics, public policy, business administration, or related area
- 10 experience with trade promotion and market linkages, five of which should be in Africa;
- Experience educating export promotion agencies, business associations, and firms on preferential trading arrangements, such as AGOA, as to objectives, provisions, procedures, and eligibility;
- Experience expanding awareness of the benefits, provisions, and procedures of regional trade agreements to private sector organizations and government officials;
- Demonstrated ability to increase awareness within the private sector of trade opportunities under AGOA;
- Experience working with firms to meet requirements for exporting goods to the U.S., such as apparel manufacturers, with regard to meeting external market demand
