Background:I Choose Life – Africa (ICL) is one of the leading Non-Governmental Organizations that has contributed greatly to Sexual Reproductive Health efforts among the youth in Kenya today. The organization works closely with the government, universities, communities and has programs in over 210institutions (tertiary institutions and high schools) across23 Countiesin Kenya and reaches over1 million youth annually with behavior change communication messages.

ICL's mission is to create a movement of individuals that enhance the quality of life for communities through Health initiatives, Economic empowerment, Education, and improved Leadership and Governance and Institutional Strengthening (HEAL&I).
Job Purpose:To identify and consolidate information about funding opportunities, coordinate concept note and proposal development, and to support the development and management of donor relationships. To support the development of unrestricted income streams through new business ventures, alumni and individual support mobilization, and other fundraising activities and support projects to mobilize community resources in order to reduce expenditure. In addition, support counties in the actualization of their county strategic plans aligned toVision 2030.
Key responsibilities
1.Concept Notes and Proposal Development
a) Research new funding opportunities and donor priorities, consolidate information on donors
b) Review requests for proposals or applications with the RM team and communication manager and advise on feasibility of the programs and/or projects
c) Directly contribute to proposal development by writing, reviewing and submitting proposals, including maintaining high quality documentation of proposals.
d) Liaise with donor staff, partners and respective teams to consolidate inputs for proposals, including managing to deadline select portions for the proposal
e) Lead cross-organization teams to development proposals, when assigned
f) Provide practical support to teams in proposal development, coordinating the internal review process and providing substantive input on proposals
g) Edit and format proposals to a final form, as assigned
2.Develop Unrestricted Income Streams
a) Contribute to the research, business planning and launching of new business ventures as assigned.
b) Contribute to the research, development, launching and maintenance of alumni programs as assigned.
c) Contribute to the research, development and launching of fundraising campaigns in collaboration with the Communications Team as assigned.
d) Support the planning and facilitation of fundraising activities and events, including identifying and engaging potential corporate sponsors.
3.Mobilize Community Resources
a) Support community asset mapping within projects.
b) Support valuing cost share levels within projects and assessing cost share standard values at organizational level.
c) Training and support of project staff to maximize community assets
4.Support and Train Project Teams in RM
a) Build ICL’s staff and partner’s capacity in resource mobilization by maintaining quality and fit for purpose structures, systems and tools.
b) Support the facilitation of regular RM Team meetings.
c) Deliver training to ICL staff and other groups in resource mobilization as required.
5.Support RM Development and Management of Partner Relationships
a) Participate in strategic meetings, forums and processes to stay up to date with unfolding events or issues and ensure that ICL is best placed to advice donors on such events or issues.
b) Develop and maintain partner intelligence and tracking tools.
c) Support RM Manager in establishing and maintaining regular contact with donors and resource mobilization networks/groups in Kenya and abroad
d) Negotiate collaboration with partner institutions and government departments on proposals, and ensure formalization and documentation of these partnerships.
e) Support the identification and engagement of corporate partners.
6.Others
a) Support Program Managers and Head of Departments in regular monitoring and reporting of RM activities and in creation of annual RM work plan
b) Work with the Programs and Communication managers to ensure that excellence in resource mobilization remains top of ICL’s agenda
c) Contribute to implementation of RM Strategy and the embedding of RM in ICL core functions.
Education and Training
· Bachelor’s degree in development sciences including Medicine, Nursing, Sociology, Economics or related fields
· Post-graduate qualification in program management
· Individuals with a Medical background and an MPH are highly encourage to apply Experience, Skills and Abilities
· Minimum of 5 years work experience in an NGO setting
· Experience in resource mobilization, including identifying and assessing relevant CFP/RFA and developing concept notes and proposals (minimum 3 years)
· Experience in research and analysis
· Proven track record of resource mobilization
· Good understanding of donor environment both within Kenya as well as internationally
· Good understanding of budgeting and finance and is able to compile a proposal budget.
· Ability to organize work of self and other effectively, result oriented and meet tight deadlines.
· Be flexible, adaptable and dynamic
