Voter Education Expert
Scope of Work
The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) is an international, non-profit organization that supports the building of democratic societies and the strengthening of transitional democracies. Founded in 1987 as a nonpartisan, non-profit organization, IFES has developed and implemented comprehensive, collaborative democracy solutions in more than 120 countries.
IFES is currently working with Kenya's Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to increase the representation of Kenyan voters, especially women and youth, in the electoral process and strengthen the integrity of the voter registration and identification systems.
IFES seeks a Consultant to support the ongoing voter education in schools curriculum and material development process as follows:
· Provide Technical Advisory support for Voter Education in the curriculum development process on a need basis.
· Support the IEBC, KICD & MOE drafting teams in voter education curriculum development for schools.
· Participate in drafting of the curriculum outline which lays out the information to be included in the curriculum.
· Participate in curriculum drafting plenary sessions as agreed by KICD.
· Participate in peer review and validation workshops as an expert in the subject matter.
· Contribute to the development of an M&E plan to monitor the implementation of the voter education curriculum in schools and provide feedback.
· Review suggested materials for implementation incorporates the curriculum, local context and mirrors the spirt of the constitution of Kenya.
· Review and participate in drafting the M&E plan and ensure it covers the intended purpose of the initiative, implementing the curriculum.
Deliverables:
Consultant shall submit Bi weekly Reportsto include the following:
a. Discussions held/meetings attended
b. Recommendations made and either adopted/not and why
c. Strengths, weaknesses and challenges identified and proposed solutions
d. Review of any input provided to the M&E plan
