WASH Officer – Health and Nutrition Program

FH/Kenya (Food for the Hungry), a Christian Relief and Development NGO – with offices in Marsabit, Sololo, Meru , Isiolo and Nairobi seeks to recruit for the following urgent positions for the Marsabit office. –

WASH Officer – Health and Nutrition Program – 1 position

Mission Statement
God called and we responded until physical and spiritual hungers ended worldwide. In order to accomplish this vision, FH seeks to walk with churches, leaders and families in overcoming all forms of human poverty by living in healthy relationship with God and His creation.

Position Titles: WASH Officers – Health and Nutrition Program
Duty Stations: Marsabit
Reporting to: Health and Nutrition Coordinator
Contract Period: January to 30th June 2014
Application closing date: 9th January 2014

Duties and Responsibilities
Identify WASH gaps and develop proposals for recovery operations
Link the HINI components of Health and Nutrition to WASH program
Provide technical support to rehabilitation of water sources at feeding centres (rehabilitation or protection of shallow wells, rehabilitation of motorised borehole supplies, extension of pipelines & construction , rehabilitation of distribution points like tap stands, water kiosks etc.)
Oversee construction and rehabilitation of water infrastructure and early recovery to combat recurrent drought
Technical support to Construction or rehabilitation of gender sensitive sanitation facilities and community at large

Qualifications / Experience (Minimum)
Must be a committed Christian and willing to support FH/Kenya Vision and Mission statement.
BSc degree in Water and Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Environmental Science or its equivalent from a reputable institution.
Minimum of 3 years working in community based WASH program in an NGO set up.
Highly motivated, self starter able to work on own initiative in difficult conditions
Proficiency in computer skills is a must
Attention to details and high level of accuracy
Practical knowledge in design of community WASH systems.
