Position title: Information Technology & Communications (ITC)Assistant
Position grade: G5/1 of the UN Somalia salary scale
Duty station : Hargeisa, Somaliland
Type of contract : 6 months Special Short Term contract with a possibility of extension.
II. Organizational Context and ScopeUnder the general supervision and technical support of the Senior ITC Assistant in Nairobi coordination office and the direct supervision of the Head of sub-Office in Hargeisa, the incumbent will be responsible for providing daily technical support and troubleshooting of all computer systems with consideration to the needs and requirements of the mission. He/she specifically will be responsible for: III. Responsibilities and Accountabilities 1. Implementation, management and maintenance of Information Technology and Communication services in IOM Hargeisa sub Office and if required IOM supported facilities.
- Ensure that all helpdesk queries are answered appropriately via email, telephone call or in person.
- Assist in installation, operation and administration of the security for the various system and network components, including protection against viruses, access to email and Internet, relational database management systems and implementation of ITC disaster recovery services.
- Testing and suggesting new software packages, which can improve the overall efficiency of the mission
- Installation, configuration and upgrading desktop and laptop computers and software used in IOM Hargeisa sub Office and supported facilities.
- Providing appropriate IT/Communication training to all users in the Mission.
- Maintaining necessary documentation for system maintenance and support procedures in IOM Hargeisa sub Office and IOM supported facilities.
- Performing any other duties as required for time to time.

Education and Experience 1. Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a combination of relevant education and professional experience.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in LAN/WAN networking environment.
- Working knowledge of: Windows Server 2008 software in a multi-site environment, Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, TCP/IP Protocol, Cisco Router Configuration, Windows 7 administration.
- Experience with HP/Compaq, IBM, Cisco and Siemon equipment.
- Experience in Web site development and administration is an extra advantage.
- Ability to design and configure networks
- Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MSCE) certification and/or Cisco Certifications an added advantage.
- Experience in working in an non-governmental or international organization VI. Languages Required English and Somali Fluent
