1. Archivist (Assistant Registrar Level)

Applicants should be holder of Bachelor of Information Science (Records Management & Archives Administration) or a Bachelor of Arts degree with Post Graduate Diploma in Records Management and Archives Administration. 
They must have at least six (6) years relevant experience, three (3) of which should be in middle level management at the level of Grade EF or equivalent. 
They should be members of a relevant professional body and have a Certificate/ Diploma in Computer Studies.
The successful candidate will be expected to:-
  • Be conversant with management of a registry
  • Be conversant with concepts and principles of records management and archives Administration
  • Be capable of carrying out records survey and appraisal
  • Be able to prepare/review records and archives management systems and procedures
  • Be capable of carrying out records accessioning
  • Be able to process new accessories

2. Records Clerk

They must have at least three (3) years experience as Clerk Grade III and must have shown merit and ability in work performance and results.
The successful candidate will be required to manage Department’s records and any other duties assigned.
Please note that the appointment is on a three year contract term renewable on mutual agreement.
3. Messenger

They must have at least five years working experience in relevant offices. 
They must have a good school leaving certificate and a good reference letter from current Section Head. 
They must be able to communicate fluently in both English and Kiswahili languages. 
They must have served as Messenger / Cleaner grade I or equivalent position for at least three (3) years. 
They must have good public relations. 
They must have knowledge of the use of office equipments like photocopiers etc and must be of high integrity, reliable, disciplined and committed to work.
The successful candidate will be expected to show outstanding merit and ability to handle highly classified information and work with minimum supervision. 
They will also be expected to work during odd hours and also during weekends.
4. Program Accountant 
(University of Nairobi HIV Fellowship) – Training for HIV managers in Kenya
1 Position
The University of Nairobi (UoN) in collaboration with the University of Washington (UW) aims to support the Kenyan National HIV response by strengthening the national program capacity through a training fellowship program. 
The UoN through the Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (UNITID) has established the University of Nairobi Fellowship Program funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
University of Nairobi Fellowship Program seeks to recruit a Program Accountant.
Reporting to the Program Manager, the incumbent will be based in Nairobi and responsible for supporting projects budget preparation, invoicing and accountant reconciliation. 
He/she will support resources effectively, and ensure that projects are within budget. 
The Accountant will be charged with connecting project activities with project financials, sending financial reports to Director and donor as well as ensuring compliance with donor regulations.
Requirements
  • CPA (K) and members of ICPAK
  • Strong IT skills and experience working with accounting software
  • At least 3 years experience working as an accountant.
  • Experience in budgeting for donor funded programs and financial management knowledge in US government regulations for funded projects will be an added advantage.
  • Prior training in Grants Management will be an added advantage.

5. i) Project Manager

  • Advanced University degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Environmental Policy or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in policy development particularly in the field of rainwater harvesting irrigation management.
  • Demonstrated capacity for research, knowledge generation and dissemination particularly in the field of climate change adaptation strategies.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively in close coordination with Scientific and Technological (S&T) communities, business / micro-enterprises, and other private, nongovernmental and public institutions.
  • Strong technical skills in quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Good writing skills, strong computer skills and good oral communication skills.
  • Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the project manager will be the responsible for the national and regional activities within the AFRHINET Project, and his/duties duties will include:
  • Undertaking the day-to day activities of the project to ensure scheduled delivery of outputs of relevant work packages.
  • Quality assurance: provide pre-implementation, mid-term and final reviews the methods, approaches, processes and outputs to ensure the highest standard of research.
  • Resourcing: assist in sourcing latest publications including reports, peer reviewed papers, conference proceedings, and books on related issues.
  • Advisory: Advice the project communities on the current knowledge, trends, latest findings and on-going research work relevance to rainwater harvesting for irrigation.
  • Leverage professional networks: assist the team to identify and organize networks with the national and county governments, communities and relevant stakeholders.
  • Facilitation: facilitation the stakeholder workshops.
  • Reporting: undertake monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual reporting of project undertakings and outputs.
  • Resource development: develop advanced capacity building training materials in the field of rainwater harvesting irrigation management.
ii) Project Assistant

Qualifications
  • A Bachelors degree in International Relations.
  • An M&E certificate from a recognized institution.
  • Computer proficiency in statistical packages, e.g. SPSS
  • Demonstrated understanding of research methodology, data collection, data quality control.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good proposal writing, documentation and reporting skills.
  • Experience in research, monitoring and evaluation for INGOs and/or donor programs will be an added advantage.
  • The Project Assistant will undertake the day-to-day budgetary and logistical arrangements of the project to ensure scheduled delivery of outputs of relevant work packages. 
  • S/he will participate at the country meetings.
  • Quality and assurance: Provide pre-implementation, mid-term and final financial spreadsheets and accounts to ensure the highest standards of fiscal management.
  • Advisory: support the Project Manager to development a monitoring and evaluation of work relevant to the assignment.
  • Facilitation: will assist the Project Manager to facilitate the stakeholder workshops.
  • Reporting: undertake monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual financial reporting of the project undertakings.
  • Resource development: assist the Project Manager to develop capacity building materials as detailed in the work package 3.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the Project Coordinator.

  • They must be computer literate and be members of a professional interpreter’s organization.
The successful candidate will provide Kenyan Sign language interpreting services during lectures, meetings, workshops and any other relevant area.

They must have at least 1 year’s technical experience in computer networks and equipment support.

  • Must have technical skills in ICT hardware Maintenance.
  • Must have effective communication and good interpersonal skills.
  • Must have sound systems analytical and diagnostic skills.
  • Reporting to the Chief ICT Officer (Maintenance), to implement and maintain University hardware
  • infrastructure and services More specifically:-
  • Prepare PCs for users by installing required and standard software.
  • Troubleshoot and repair problems with workstations. Including, but not limited to: Replace system board, hard drive, power supply, CD/DVD drive, video or other drivers.
  • Troubleshoot, configure and repair printers, Monitors and other PC peripheral devices.
  • Keep necessary information on the repairs and maintenance of different equipment among other duties.
ii) Senior ICT Officer (User Support Services), ICT Centre

Reporting to the Chief ICT Officer (USS) on technical issues; and administratively to the campus administration; to implement and maintain user ICT infrastructure and services.

They should have research experience, with at least two (2) publications in refereed journals or two chapters in scholarly books. They should show evidence of continuing research activity.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach and supervise at both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the areas indicated above and undertake further research in their areas of specialization and also participate in School’s activities.
ii) Part-Time Lecturer, Department of Library & Information Science

In both cases, they should have research experience, with at least two (2) publications in refereed journals or two chapters in scholarly books. They should show evidence of continuing research activity.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach and supervise at both undergraduate and postgraduate students and undertake further research in their areas of specialization and also participate in School’s activities.
