Program Description:
Research Care and Training Program (RCTP) is collaboration between the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), University of Washington, (UW), and University of Alabama, Birmingham (UAB).

RCTP leads the Family AIDS Care and Education Services (FACES) program, a comprehensive HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment program working in 140 clinics in Kisumu, Migori and Homabay Counties, Kenya.
We have the following vacancies in the Tupange II Study:
Position: GPS Mappers (10 Positions)
Reports to: Survey Coordinator
Location: Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Machakos and Kakamega
Duration: 10 Days

Position Summary:
GPS mapper/lister’s job will involve collecting data using a GPS and inputting data into a GIS.

He/she will use mobile data terminals, GPS equipment, and mobile mapping software to verify and map features.
He/she will also create maps, and perform routine geospatial analysis and queries
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Data collection using GPS handheld receiver.
- Record attributes data for POI’s.
- Verify existence of points of interest in the field.
- Interview key people.
- Using GIS programs for Mapping.
- Provide feedback to the supervisor regarding quality assurance of data, detected deficiencies etc .
- Report writing for work done.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by management.
Requirements:
- At least a Higher National Diploma in Geography/GIS/Cartography/Computer science or relevant field
- Good understanding of field work is essential.
- Good level of IT skills and literacy in Ms Office.
- Practical experience in using GIS, GPS units and Cartography desirable.
- Knowledge of GIS programs ArcGIS, Mapinfo etc added advantage.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good planning and time management skills.
- Familiarity with area of study.
