Program Description:
Research Care and Training Program (RCTP) is collaboration between the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), university of Washington, (UW), and University of Alabama, Birmingham (UAB).

RCTP leads the Family AIDS Care and Education Services (FACES) program, a comprehensive HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment program working in 140 clinics in Kisumu, Migori and Homabay Counties, Kenya.

Position summary:
The incumbent will be answerable to the respective city manager and will be responsible for making initial contacts with potential study subjects, introducing the study to them, establishing rapport and facilitating community entry to the other members of the research team.

Other responsibilities will be conducting in-depth interviews with the participants; preparing research field notes for review by members of the research team; serve as language interpreter and perform other duties as may be assigned by management
Key Responsibilities and accountability:
- Making initial contacts with potential study subjects
- Establishing rapport and facilitating community entry to other members of the team
- Conducting health facility audits
- Conducting interviews with healthcare providers
- Conducting exit interviews with women
- Serve as language interpreters
- Preparing weekly progress reports of survey activities
- Ensures that quality data is collected
- Closely work with other team members to ensure the success of the survey
Requirements:
- At least a Diploma in Community Health, Social Work, Nursing, Clinical medicine or any other related field. Degree holders in the related fields are also encouraged to apply.
- Post-qualification experience in conducting research will be an added advantage
- Must be keen and attentive to details and have ability to follow instructions and procedures properly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Fluency of the local language for the specific locations will be an added advantage.
- Must be non-judgmental and flexible to mix with all cadres of people.
- Must be a team player.
