HEAD OF DEPARTMENT- MARKET RESEARCH & CUSTOMER INSIGHTS

HOD – MR&CI–JULY- 2013
We are pleased to announce the following vacancies within our Marketing Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for persons who meet the criteria indicated below: 
Reporting to the Director - Marketing, the successful candidate will be responsible for end to end management of the company’s market research and customer insights strategy designed to support understanding of our consumers’ needs, and influencing decisions to develop products that address these needs to drive business growth, using a variety of best practice and processes
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Marketing Research and Customer insights policy formulation to support decision-making
  • Lead the sourcing of customer insights expertise within the Research & Customer Insights team
  • Actively inspire and influence research and product teams to ensure they ingrain consumer feedback/insights in the brand/product strategy and marketing activities to maximize effectiveness and profitability
  • Through research and data analysis techniques, identify strategic requirements and support long-term opportunity development for innovation, aligned to overall business strategy and Safaricom brand development
  • People management - Monitoring departmental staff performance and manage the selection, growth, development and motivation of staff
  • Budget management - for the department in the key areas of research
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and competencies
  • Degree in Business Marketing / Social Sciences preferably with a Business management bias or a related field from a reputable university;
  • 8-10 years research experience, preferably in FMCG environment providing consulting / Specialist Support, establishing Strategic direction For Specialist Area, pursuing Innovation and managing the research portfolio
  • Project Management skills
  • SSPS -Intermediate
  • Strong thought leadership and people management
  • Cost center management
  • Good analytical skills to be able to interpret information and data
  • Good facilitator skills to be able to facilitate insights workshops
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to simplify complex data and drive decision making
