Build Africa is an award winning International NGO with headquarters in the UK that aims to improve the quality of education and livelihoods by building the capacity of rural communities. This is achieved through partnerships with district local government and other stakeholders. Build Africa has been in existence for 35 years operating in Kenya since 1996. We have a strong reputation within the community and with district local governments, a strong commitment to impact and quality, experiencing tremendous growth in the last three years. We are the International Charity of the Year and in 2011 we were voted the Best Charity to Work for.
We are currently looking for an exemplary Country Director who is accountable for the quality of Build Africa Kenya’s (BAK) programme, providing leadership, direction, support and oversight.
Key roles include:
- formulate Build Africa Kenya’s new strategic plan working with the Kenyan board who will provide you with good governance and advice.
- to lead and motivate staff.
- ensure that Build Africa Kenya has adequate resources to fulfill its objectives,
- maintain effective networks and seek opportunities to expand and promote the role of Build Africa.
You will be an integral part of the International Senior Management Team that develops global organisational strategy.
Requirements:
We are looking for extensive experience of the Kenyan context of development issues.
- With at least 7 years senior management experience, the Country Director will possess a track record of developing, delivering and reviewing projects that create measurable & cost-effective impact.
- You will need a strong track record in strategic planning, experience of working in an international context, strong ability and experience in fundraising and you must be well connected with excellent networking skills and ability to communicate effectively from grassroots to senior government.
- You will have excellent written communication skills particularly proposal writing, committed to transparent relationships with beneficiaries and stakeholders, with proven integrity and the ability to build the capacity and confidence of all your staff.
- You will need to be well versed in the financial aspects of running an organisation and be able to demonstrate that you will manage all funds effectively and efficiently.
