VSO is the world’s leading independent international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries.
VSO Jitolee has a partnership agreement with KUAP to enable organisational development and enhancement of health outcomes for women, children and youth that KUAP serves. Initial work has been done in performance management, monitoring and evaluation and resource mobilization by the previous VSO volunteer, however there is a need to build upon this foundation and bring the organization to a level of complete self sufficiency.

What does the role involve?
In order to reach the level of self sufficiency, you will need to:
- Facilitate the implementation of the strategic plan with the management team;
- Capacity building of staff and board on resource mobilisation and spearhead the formation of a resource
mobilization team; - Lead proposal writing & research of potential donors;
- Implement fundraising activities at a local level.
Skills, qualifications and experience required
This placement requires you to have a degree in Business Development and at least 5 years experience in organisational development or fundraising. You are experienced in resource mobilisation, strategic planning and management and project management.
It is desirable that you also have experience in performance management, monitoring & evaluation and are able to work with a diverse team involved in health, education and children services.

You will be based in Kisumu town, which is quite a large town and it has all facilities such as markets, shops, banks, post office, hospitals, pubs, internet and good transport. Accommodation is available with electricity and water.
We’ll ask you to commit 12-24 months to make a sustainable contribution to development goals and in return we’ll provide you with invaluable training before your placement, a local living allowance, return flights, accommodation and insurance. When you return to your home country we’ll help you resettle and we’ll invite you to stay involved with us through campaigning, development awareness raising and fundraising.
